The School Uniform, the Catwalk, and the School We Lost
Elena Georgiou — 2026-09-12
The school uniform was not just a piece of fabric - it was a visible symbol of an era when schools wanted to impose a common code and equality. In Greece it was abolished in 1982. In Cyprus, the uniform changed form but never really left. The question behind the uniform is much more serious than the fabric itself: what exactly do we want the school to be?
